This painting is currently in the Barn Gallery at Patchings Art Centre (to 10 April). Its a view along Trumpington Street in Cambridge with the buildings of Peterhouse on the left. For me the scene has an air about it of homeward journeying at the end of the day. The lingering warmth and depth of the late afternoon sky is reflected in the paving and orange brickwork helps to heighten the warmth of the blues. I liked the way in which the gate post to the right rose up majestically to challenge the colleges and chapels for dominance of the composition.
