In this composition, I was particularly playing with lemon yellows and enjoying the contrast of dark mauve field boundaries that zigzag through it. Squire’s Pond and a spring time ‘forget-me-not’ sky create another complimentary layer of colour interest. Southwell Minster is confined to a suggestion of its roof lines.
The painting is at the gallery at Rufford until 9 June, in the Open Studios Notts exhibition.
