The market town of Newark-on-Trent stands on the east side of the river Trent in Nottinghamshire and is composed of largely unblemished and visually stunning historic buildings including the ruined 12th century castle, the tall spired Medieval church, the Georgian bridge over the Trent with the Victorian former Ossington Coffee House beyond and the jostle of Medieval, 18th and 19th century buildings that edge its distinctive market place.
