Susan's paintings reflect a background and continuing interest in sculpture. The paintings here are all worked in oil. Susan has used a palette knife to apply and shape the oil paints, producing a strongly textured surface that, combined with the tonal colours, brings a sense of immediacy to the images.

Susan places occasional fleeting outlines of human forms in many of her paintings - ghostly figures that move through tonally coloured and richly textured landscapes.
