These sculptural pieces formed part of a solo exhibition of Susan's work at the
WIRKSWORTH HERITAGE CENTRE Crown Yard, Market Place, Wirksworth, Derbyshire 5th to 30th June 2009. WEDS-SUN, 10-30AM - 4-30PM Free Entrance to the exhibition They were exhibited in tandem with a series of paintings of 'WORKING LANDSCAPES'. They were previously part of a solo exhibition at THE RAINBOW GALLERY in the D.H. Lawrence Heritage, Durban House Heritage Centre, Mansfield Rd, Eastwood NG16 3DZ from 5 Jan to 8 Mar 2009. White Sleep |
Landscape holds a central place in Susan's art and she is fascinated with the way landscape is animated by the life contained within it. In Susan's ceramic sculptures, people take on landscape forms, so that her dream-like heads and figures, many in repose, emulate landscapes through their undulating contours. |
