WORKING LANDSCAPES

In these paintings Susan has examined how landscape has been infiltrated by the industrial activities of past generations. Whether disused, modified or continuing in original purpose, the time-softened forms of industrial structures are haunting monuments to a previous existence, often incidentally enhancing and providing new focus to the landscape.

HUMAN LANDSCAPES

Landscape holds a central place in Susan Isaac's art and she is fascinated with the way landscape is animated by the life contained within it. In this exhibition of Susan's ceramic sculptures, people take on landscape forms, so that her dream-like heads and figures, many in repose, emulate landscapes through their undulating contours.

This exhibition of Susan Isaac's latest work focuses on the relationship between people and their surroundings. It examines that relationship through painting and ceramic sculpture.

In Susan's ceramic work, people take on landscape forms so that dream-like heads and figures emulate landscapes through their undulating contours. The solidity of these clay figures contrasts with the fleeting outlines of human forms present in many of her paintings - ghostly figures that move through tonally coloured and richly textured landscapes.
